Morocco beat 2010 World Cup winners, Spain on penalty shootout to advance to the quarterfinals of 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Sergio Busquets, Carlos Soler & Pablo Sarabia missed the first three penalties for Spain, whereas the Atlas Lions scored 3 of their 4 penalties taken to win the shootout by 3-0 to snatch quarter final ticket from Spain.

Spain held Morocco to a 0-0 scoreline after Extra time at the Education City Stadium.
Morocco’s Walid Cheddira missed their best chance for the side in the Extra time which would’ve given Morocco the lead.

After 120 minutes of goalless draw, the match then proceeded to penalties and Spain failed to score any in the shootout.

Spanish born Moroccan Right back, Achraf Hakimi scored Morocco’s last penalty with a panenka to win the game for the North African giants.

Morocco now make history as they become the first North African country & the fourth African country to qualify to the FIFA World Cup Quarter finals.
