Disappointment hits Ghanaians as Ghana exits the FIFA world cup Qatar 2022 edition. The black stars suffered a 2-nil defeat against Uruguay on Friday, 2nd December 2022. The defeat made it not possible for them to make a cut for qualifying from the group stages into the next round.

Ghana had a penalty in the 21st minute of the game, kind courtesy Mohammed Kudus. But the penalty was missed by the captain of the side, Andre Ayew.

Uruguay capitalized on the penalty miss and the fact that it had taken an effect mentally on the Ghanaian players; hence scoring two successive goals 5 minutes later.

Giorgian de Arrascaeta scored all the two successive goals to give Uruguay a little hope. He got the first one on the 26th minute and then six minutes later, he added the second goal to it.

Uruguay was hoping for Portugal to win or draw against South Korea, but South Korea grabbed a late winner to place then second on the table, which gave them qualification to the next round.

Ghana lost their first game against Portugal and won the next one against South Korea. At this point, they needed a win or a draw to take them through to the next round, but they couldn’t get it against Uruguay.

Ghana will be looking for another coach to take over since Otto Addo has decided to step down as coach of the black stars. A candidate who is likely to take over is Chris Hughton.
