The Member of Parliament for Ketu South constituency, Abla Dzifa Gomashie has called on the public to join the campaign on the fight against breast cancer.
Adding her voice to the campaign by AritaGlobe Foundation in Kigali, Rwanda under the foundation’s usual theme: “Knowing it exists is not enough. Get informed. Pass it on” the former deputy minister for tourism, culture and creative arts said one must not wait to be a victim or survivor before he or she can be interested in the wellbeing of another.
“Before I became a member of parliament I used to do this in my constituency and I still do as a member of parliament. Just this morning, I was sharing the flyer all over every page I am in to create awareness and encourage people . You don’t have to be a victim or a survivor to be interested in the wellbeing of another. “ she said.
According to her, women issues are real issues. I mean for me, even if you’re not female, you were birth by a female. So for me when it’s October, it’s all about all of us—being concerned and being interested about the well being of of a female. Ultimately, we provide care, we assist at home, we bring some income, we nurture and also seek our space around the development table where discussion are heard about all of us.
The former actress and script writer applauded AritaGlobe Foundation for their continuous advocacy on breast cancer. She believes that one must do unto others as they want it to be done to them.“Golden rule: do unto others what you want them to do unto you. Face the truth, when you have headache, it’s a sickness and when you have cancer it’s sickness. Let’s be compassionate and reach out to assist.” She stressed.
October is globally declared as a month to raise awareness to reduce the stigma of breast cancer through education on symptoms and treatment, and the AritaGlobe Foundation in the last three years have been consistent with their advocacy on the fight against the disease— visiting schools, offices, market places to create awareness and to encourage the public.
