Spanish born Ghanaian striker, Inaki Williams, who plays for La Liga outfit Athletic club de Bilbao has switched nationality to Ghana. The 28-year-old forward, with the help of the Ghana Football Association has completed the necessary processes required by the world football governing body FIFA, which allows him to be able to represent the West African nation ahead of the upcoming world cup and beyond.
Inaki released a 1 minute video of himself which announced his switch. The video briefly detailed how Ghana has shaped him in some ways and how he is ready and excited to defend the colors of Ghana.
“…today a new challenge begins. From now on I will defend Ghana’s t-shirt with all my will, whilst I give my best. I am one of the black stars” – said, Inaki Williams in the video he released.
Inaki Williams and his brother recently visited Ghana on holidays, which met wide speculations that they are both committed to play for the 4-time African champions. With confirmation by close sources of agn news, we can confirm that, Nico Williams, who is the junior brother of Inaki is also going to follow suit, but it is just a matter of time.
Inaki has to his honor the 2020/21 supercopa de espana and also copa del rey runner up for 2019/20, 2020/21 season. He has a record of over 300 first team appearances for the club which includes a la liga record of over 200 consecutive games.
