Brazil and world football legend Edson Arantes do Nascimento, popularly known as Pelé has passed on.
Aged 82, Pelé who was born on 23 October 1940, died on Thursday, 29 December 2022 after battling cancer for a while.
On a post on instagram, Pelé’s daughter Kely Nascimento writes: “Everything we are is thanks to you. We love you infinitely. Rest in Peace”.
Several tributes from the football fraternity and the whole world have gone in for the legend.

“For everyone who loves the beautiful game, this is the day we never wanted to come. The day we lost Pelé”, FIFA President Gianni Infantino wrote in his tribute to Pelé.
Pelé is credited with scoring a world record 1281 goals in 1363 appearances which spans a 21 year long career. This includes 77 goals in 92 matches for his country.
Pelé is the only player in history to win 3 FIFA World Cup trophies. He also won 6 Brasileiro, 2 Copa Libertadores.

Pelé inspired so many lads to become great players in the game. This includes Abedi ‘Pelé’ Ayew, who is one of Ghana’s best players ever.
